@00:17That video seems to really be something amazing! The way the insects were captured feeding on the flowers; they reminded me of cats with balls of yarn.

Hell yes, he's huge. :D I tried to make more of this one, but he was here for less than a minute and as soon as I took this shot, he flew to the other side of the place, I had to run all the way around, and by the time I set up, he was gone.

@04:34They say only bumble bees can suck on this type of blossom. Bees do not have their proboscis long enough. I wonder if this bee got to some nectar after all that effort.

Shot over three days. Slowmotions (240fps) of bees, and other insects, as ants.
Manual focusing.
Yes, it's quite long. Sorry if I wasted your time.

I choose this category because it's quite experimental, even though it is my second try in filming bees, but the first try was really experimental, and not really pretty.

Oh, and watch it in DivX Hi-quality, the video will be more fluid. =)

An afternoon in the flowers. by *tbfdm Even when it is just experimental, I am amazed by the quality of this film. If you love macro and nature, you will love this. ( Featured by InpuUpUaut )

@06:18Wow, I can't imagine the work that went into this, especially with manual focusing! While the music itself is cool, I'm not sure it really fits for the piece. It seems to make the piece seem more slow and monotonous than the film really is.

I think you are right. I tried to find a 6 minutes long music and composed it in the end, but instead I think I should have shortened the film and kept searching.

I imagine it's very difficult to find music that you can use, what with copyright rules and everything. I'm impressed with the composition, though! Like I said, it's cool, it just isn't quite the right thing.

@06:18You had some really good close-ups there. It must have been a great deal of work to get those, I admire you.

Unfortunately the ant was too often out of focus. :(

You should keep up the good work. One day National Geographic will hire you :)

Thank you very much.

The ants are very hard to shoot. Unless they're on a path, they are even more unpredictable than bees. And way faster. The film is shot with high FPS, so it's slowmotion. Actually the true speed is 4x the film speed. I'll try to be more often in focus next time. :)

And thank you for the props :D
